Religious School Vision Statement
The School Committee recently adopted the following
vision statement and goals for the 1999-2000 school year.
Vision
- To educate our children in the customs, practices, and rituals of
Judaism
- To promote the development of a Jewish identity
- To install a life-long commitment to Judaism
- A quality Hebrew School experience is rooted in the partnership between parents, teachers and students
Goals
- To develop a sense of Jewish community
- To create nurturing environment that makes learning fun
- To celebrate Shabbat, festivals / festivities, and occassions significant
to Jewish life
- To have a system to evaluate and monitor student progress by establishing
defined expectations
- To be exposed to the Hebrew alphabet, and to learn to read and write in Hebrew
- To become involved in the traditions of Mitzvot and Tzedakah
- To provide an understanding and knowledge of our Jewish heritage and
culture
- To provide a sense of one's role in the American Jewish community,
world Jewry, and Israel
