by Gil Mann

Mann's book is oriented more toward adults who may have some problems with Judaism even though they still "feel" Jewish. Mann presents Judaism as a way of life consisting of three interlocking components: Ethics, Spirituality, and Peoplehood, and presents a case that Judaism can be practiced from any one or more of these components.
This book was discussed in the sermon for Yom Kippur 5760 (1999)

Departments
Torah Several different translations of the Torah in English. Some with commentary.
Holidays There are more holidays than Passover and Hannukah. These books tell you what they're about and how you can celebrate them.
Jewish Learning It's not easy to know where to begin. The classical texts can be difficult, and your children's Sunday school texts not deep enough. These books give good introductions to various topics in Jewish learning.
Jewish Living These books is to show you how it is possible to be completely American and completely Jewish at the same time. All of them assume a liberal (non-Orthodox) approach to Judaism.
Shabbat Shabbat is the cornerstone of Jewish life. Although it's not always easy to imagine how one can incorporate Shabbat into modern life, these books offer non-judgmental approaches to making Shabbat an integral part of your week.
Women's Studies There is no question that traditional Judaism is male-centered. But in recent decades there has been an amazing amount of work done in female-oriented approaches to Jewish ritual and Jewish history.
Cooking In all the lands we've lived in, our grandmothers and great-grandmothers adapted the local cuisine to fit with Jewish dietary laws and to capture the essence of the holidays.
Spirituality Some people complain that Judaism is too much about law and not enough about spirit. These books deal with spiritual aspects of Judaism.
